Department of Microbiological and Biochemical Pharmacy (formerly Department of Biosynthesis), School of Pharmacy, Fudan University, was founded in the early 1960s. At the same time, Biosynthesis medicinal chemistry, as the first biopharmaceutical discipline in domestic, was established in Shanghai First Medical College. In order to better adapt to current biopharmaceutical researches, the department was officially renamed as Department of Microbiology and Biochemical Pharmacy in 2016.
